La cantidad de material que puede transportar un cucharón se determina como capacidad de golpe (nivel) y capacidad colmada. La capacidad colmada son los pies cúbicos reales. Las siguientes fórmulas se utilizan para determinar las capacidades y le ayudarán a comparar la capacidad de varios cangilones.
Para calcular los pies cúbicos de un balde:
1: Mida desde la parte superior del balde hasta el fondo en pulgadas = Altura
2: Mida desde el frente del piso hacia atrás en pulgadas = Profundidad
3: Alto x Profundidad ÷ 2 x Ancho = Pulgadas cúbicas ÷ 1728 = Capacidad de golpe (pies cúbicos)
Para calcular la capacidad colmada de un balde:
Para cucharones de las series B, BEL, BELHD, UT, CCT, BEC, MIB y MIBEL: Pies cúbicos ÷ 3 = Cantidad colmada + Pies cúbicos = Capacidad colmada
Para cucharones de las series UTHB, FMX, HCSB, HVMB, CAL y MISLMB: Pies cúbicos ÷ 2,5 = Cantidad colmada + Pies cúbicos = Capacidad colmada
